Scrapbook Page for Capt Patrick MUNRO (GASCOIGNE)

Foulis Castle, Evanton, Ross-shire

Seat of the Munro Clan. The original castle was destroyed in the second Jacobite Rebellion of 1745. The rebellion was put down by Government forces at the Battle of Culloden, after which the clan system ceased and there was no need for a castle. Foulis was rebuilt as the mansion it is now.
